Among the most practical upgrades for daily operations is Samsara’s AI-enhanced Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) tool. This system verifies that inspections are done live and accurately by rejecting reused or irrelevant images, and allows drivers to dictate notes for faster, clearer reporting. AI translates fault codes into plain language and recommends repair steps, while maintenance managers can create work orders, schedule repairs, and track costs — all within the platform. Third-party service invoices are also converted into standardized maintenance data, improving recordkeeping and oversight.
Samsara's new route planning solution enables dispatchers to create delivery plans that factor in vehicle specs, driver qualifications, and operational constraints like fuel costs or shift limits. In a demonstration, the system created 75 food delivery routes using just six out of eight trucks and avoided overtime — all within a minute. Coming later this summer, new in-app commercial navigation will guide drivers with turn-by-turn directions that reflect vehicle-specific restrictions and integrate with live traffic and geofenced customer locations.
Responding to weather disruptions is getting easier with Samsara’s Weather Intelligence feature. It overlays National Weather Service alerts on the fleet dashboard, showing which assets are in affected areas. Dashcam-connected views of current road conditions further improve situational awareness. The new StreetSense feature crowdsources anonymized dashcam footage from other participating fleets, offering managers a clearer picture of on-the-ground conditions ahead of their own vehicles.
By integrating with HappyRobot, Samsara now enables fleets to automate customer interactions through conversational AI. In real-time demos, the system handled delivery status calls, answered follow-up questions, and sent tracking updates — all while maintaining a natural and adaptable tone. While it may not replace human interaction in every case, it’s designed to ease the burden of high-volume customer service tasks.
Extending safety beyond the vehicle, Samsara revealed a new wearable device that includes a large SOS button, speaker, mic, GPS, and a year-long battery life. In emergencies, pressing the button sends the worker’s identity, location, and a recorded message to the back office. Fall detection and proactive check-ins add another layer of safety, particularly for lone or remote workers. Notably, many of these features — including the SOS function — will also be available in the Samsara Driver App later this year, removing the need for additional hardware.
With driver safety in mind, Samsara is launching an AI Multicam system that supports up to four external HD cameras for 360-degree visibility. The platform tracks pedestrians, cyclists, and blind spot hazards in real time, issuing in-cab alerts as needed. Compatible with both OEM and aftermarket cameras, the system uses a processing hub to analyze footage and support defensive driving recognition. AI also flags near-misses and enables managers to reward good behavior through digital incentives or coaching feedback. A redesigned Driver App now includes safety score summaries, gamified “streaks,” and short video coaching clips that allow drivers to learn on their own schedule.
Mohawk Industries, a beta customer, has already seen major gains. By moving DVIRs, routing, and safety tracking into the Samsara ecosystem, the company saved nearly $8 million annually. Those savings were reinvested into driver recognition programs, digital payroll systems, and other back-office upgrades.
For fleet operators, the message is clear: Samsara’s latest wave of innovations aims to bring intelligent automation to nearly every touchpoint in a driver’s day — from pre-trip inspections and route optimization to emergency response and customer service. By uniting AI capabilities with real-world operational challenges, Samsara is helping fleets become more agile, responsive, and safe — without adding headcount or complexity.
As AI adoption accelerates, fleet managers who embrace these tools will likely gain a significant edge in efficiency, compliance, and driver retention.
