Both models now come in hybrid trims that never see a charging cable. The Forester's hybrid is rated for 581 miles of range. The Crosstrek's hybrid tops that at 591 miles. Fill the tank, drive, repeat. There's no plug-in variant of either.

On the Forester, gas trims run Indiana production; the hybrid does too, with one narrow exception involving a Japan-built Premium trim that Subaru is having disabled for commercial fleet ordering specifically, because it isn't available through that channel. On the Crosstrek, the split runs along fuel type instead of trim: gas is Indiana-built, hybrid is Japan-built.
None of that changes what the vehicle does on the road. It does affect lead time, allocation, and which configurations your fleet management company can actually get you. Confirm sourcing and orderability before you commit a build slot to either hybrid.
Why this matters
Plug-in hybrids and full EVs still make sense for fleets running predictable routes out of a depot with charging already installed. But most fleets aren't built that way. Service vans, field vehicles, and company cars that leave the lot and don't come back until the job's done don't have a charger to return to, and building one is a bigger ask than most operations budgets survive on the first pass.
