April 2024 Canadian Sales Break Streak of Disappointments with Strong Growth
April sales in Canada have been disappointing since 2018, with the month often marking one of the weakest of the year.
However, in 2024, the streak was broken with Canadian sales reaching 186,000 units, up 10.2% from the previous year, and a SAAR of 1.90 million.
While down from the over 2 million figures seen in Q1, the performance was strong given the political and economic challenges.
Corporate results were mixed, with some brands showing strong gains while others saw declines. Light trucks dominated the market, comprising 88.3% of sales and driving the overall growth, while passenger car sales continued to decline.
