Ford has announced immediate and longer-term updates to its electrification and powertrain strategy that will impact fleet customers. Production of the current F-150 Lightning has ended, and Ford Pro sales teams will work directly with customers who have existing MY26 fleet orders to review next steps and alternative options.
Ford remains committed to electrification where it fits business needs, continuing to offer the all-electric Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit for fleets seeking EV solutions today.
Looking ahead, Ford is shifting its strategy toward more affordable electric vehicles, expanded hybrid offerings, and extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), with a new Universal Electric Vehicle platform launching in 2027, beginning with a new electric pickup.
Starting in 2029, Ford plans to introduce a new EREV F-150 Lightning with an estimated 700+ miles of range, along with new gas and hybrid vans and additional gas-powered Built Ford Tough pickups, including a new Super Duty.
In parallel, Ford is launching a battery energy storage business, with U.S.-based production of advanced battery energy storage systems targeted to begin in 2027
