As a fleet manager, I’m genuinely trying to understand how companies are supposed to justify large-scale EV adoption anymore. The upfront cap costs on EVs are already significantly higher than comparable ICE vehicles. Federal incentives that once helped offset those costs are disappearing or becoming harder to qualify for. On top of that, resale values on used EVs have been getting hammered, which destroys the lifecycle economics fleets rely on when calculating total cost of ownership. Now we’re looking at proposed federal annual EV road-use fees like the BUILD America 250 Act. So fleets would potentially pay another $130–$150 per EV every single year simply because EV drivers don’t contribute to fuel taxes? For a large fleet, that becomes a massive recurring expense overnight. And then there’s the state side. Are other fleet managers rethinking their EV rollout plans because of these added costs and regulatory uncertainty? Or are you still moving forward aggressively despite all this?
