Canadian light vehicle sales continued to improve in July, with an estimated 173,000 units sold, up 0.5% from July 2025. While the increase was modest, it marked the second consecutive month of year-over-year growth following eight straight months of declines. July also represented the strongest July sales total since 2019.

The July SAAR reached 1.90 million units, its highest level since February. Manufacturer results remained mixed, with both double-digit gains and declines across the market, along with shifts between vehicle segments. ZEV performance was also uneven, although Tesla continued its year-to-date recovery and several electric models surpassed 1,000 sales during the month. For fleets, the recent improvement is an encouraging sign, but continued market volatility makes it important to monitor OEM production, availability, and ordering conditions heading into the second half of 2026.
