Canadian Used Vehicle Market Softens in February

Canada’s wholesale used vehicle market declined steadily throughout February. Car values fell between about 0.37% and 0.67% each week, while trucks and SUVs dropped between 0.34% and 0.75%, with trucks generally seeing slightly larger declines. Most segments lost value, though a few—such as Premium Sporty Cars, Minivans, and some pickup segments—posted occasional gains.

Auction activity remained mixed, with sale rates ranging from the mid-40% to around 60% as sellers held firm on pricing. At the retail level, the average used vehicle listing price edged down from about $37,100 to $36,850, while dealer inventory remained stable at roughly 197,000 to 199,000 units.
