Federal Incentives Boost ZEV Sales as Overall Market Slips in February
Federal EV incentives had an immediate effect, with ZEV sales jumping over 50% in some provinces despite starting mid-month. At the same time, Quebec drove much of the overall story. After a weak start to the year, it posted a 16.8% increase, while all other provinces saw declines.
Ontario was down slightly at 1.5%, while provinces like Manitoba and PEI saw bigger drops. Overall, Canada’s new vehicle sales dipped 0.2% in February and remain 1.5% below last year.
