North Carolina Discontinues Registration Stickers Effective October 1, 2026
Effective October 1, 2026, North Carolina has discontinued issuing license plate registration stickers as part of its vehicle registration process. Vehicle owners can access a digital copy of their registration at no cost through the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles website. Registrations can be downloaded as a PDF or requested by email.
For fleets, this change eliminates the need for drivers to apply annual registration stickers to their license plates. EMKAY will continue printing and mailing physical registration cards to drivers, so there will be no change to the current registration card distribution process.
