Ford CEO Jim Farley has announced what he calls a “Model T moment”: the launch of an affordable, all-electric small pickup truck to be built in Louisville, Kentucky, with future variants including SUVs, a sedan, and a van.
Sized similarly to a Toyota RAV4, the truck will feature both a bed and a frunk, impressive range, the ability to power a home for up to six days, and performance “faster than the Mustang EcoBoost.”
Built on Ford’s new Universal EV platform with structural LFP batteries, fewer parts, and a streamlined “assembly tree” manufacturing method, the vehicle aims to cut costs and complexity while boosting versatility and efficiency.
While Ford has only shown concept sketches, production isn’t expected until at least 2027.
